Managing Movement in Fire Stopping
Managing Movement in Fire Stopping
Accommodating movement in fire stopping systems in buildings is vital to ensure on-going effectiveness in the event of a fire.
Failing to install an appropriate fire stopping system could lead to cracks forming in the seal - compromising its ability to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and toxic gases.
Early engagement is key to catching movement requirements at an early stage of a building design. Talk to us, at FSi Promat, to discuss your project requirements and find more about our flexible fire stopping solution - the Flexi-Coat system.
The Flexi-Coat Solution
The Flexi-Coat Solution
Ideal for fire stopping applications requiring up to +/-25% movement, Flexi-Coat is a flexible, ablative product available as a both a coating to be applied to stone/mineral wool backing materials, and also in ready made, pre-coated mineral wool - Flexi-Coat Fingers, which are made up of an 80kg mineral wool with a lamella core to give it enhanced flexibility, and the Flexi-Coat coating applied to it is able to flex and mould to accommodate this.
Built up vertically, the blocks of mineral wool can be adapted to meet the different movement requirements of fire stopping linear joints (EN1366-4) and penetration seals (EN1366-3), as well as curtain wall and perimeter façade applications (EN1364-4).
