Promat has supplied fire protection solutions for the structural steel frame at Dublin Airport's impressive Terminal 2 building.
"Our experience gained from working with Promat on other major projects means they are the clear choice for fire protection solutions on projects of this scale." Project Manager Giles Cranidge from Main Contractors Mace.
Architects Pascall & Watson designed the complex, which is the €600 million centrepiece of the DAA's €1.2 billion first phase transformation programme for the airport.
Over 40,000m² of Promat VERMICULUX® board has been supplied and installed by fire protection specialist Permafix Construction Solutions, providing up to two hours fire protection to the structure's steel frame.
VERMICULUX® is a lightweight non-combustible board specially engineered to provide up to 240 minutes fire resistance to structural steel. The board is resistant to moisture, will not disintegrate, warp or swell and can be installed at any time during the building programme, even before external walls have been completed and the building is enclosed.
Work began on the 75,000m² second terminal in October 2007 and was completed in November 2010. The terminal will handle 15 million passengers annually.
