When the Fire Protection Association (FPA) needed to refurbish and update the training room at its UK headquarters, it turned to the UK leader in passive fire protection for assistance. Promat UK provided a wide range of display materials for the project, and helped the FPA transform the training room into a modern and practical new facility.
“The training room is at the FPA’s Fire Service College at Moreton-in-Marsh in Gloucestershire,” says Promat’s Construction Support Manager, Kevin Price. “The FPA has a reputation for providing an outstanding range of services including training, so it was important that this particular facility was brought as up-to-date as possible and we were keen to help the FPA achieve that.”

Promat supplied a very wide range of passive fire protection materials for the project. “The aim was to include as many different types of protection solutions as was practical, so that the people who are training there get a really comprehensive picture of all the options that are available,” adds Kevin. “We wanted to show the students how all these different elements can be combined to create genuinely bespoke solutions.”
Among the Promat products featured in the room are SUPALUX® a non-combustible calcium silicate board, DURASTEEL® composite panels for fire and blast protection, Promat TL Board®, designed for the thermal upgrading of semi-exposed concrete decks - and the FLAMEBRAKER grid system, used with SUPALUX® for industrial linings
"The display is very positive and is exactly what is required here at our training facilities,” says Paul Reade, Fire Safety Technical Advisor with the FPA. “Immediately, the learner can see the products first-hand. The demonstration clearly displays a lot of passive fire protection products and systems. We can discuss the benefits they offer and how they work in a fire situation, and that helps enhance the understanding of this area."
