Designed to meet the highest standards of luxury and safety, this iconic high-rise demanded precision in every detail, including its passive fire protection. Promat’s involvement underscores our commitment to delivering high-performance firestopping solutions tailored to complex and challenging site conditions.

Applications

To ensure effective fire compartmentation in the service risers and utility openings, the project specified PROMASTOP®-CA, a water-based fire protection coating designed to provide reliable protection against smoke, fire, and heat transfer at service penetration points. PROMASTOP®-CA has been tested and certified for sealing cables and pipes in both walls and ceilings, making it a trusted solution for complex firestopping requirements.

Its use in this project addressed several critical site challenges:

◉ Restricted Access: Installation had to be performed from one side only due to limited site access. This required precise planning and careful application to ensure compliance and performance.

◉ Congested Area: The services in the affected area had already been completed, resulting in a tight workspace. The firestopping works had to be carefully coordinated to avoid disruption to existing installations.

◉ Multiple Penetrations: The opening featured a combination of service types such as cables, cable trays and various pipework, requiring a highly flexible and compatible solution. PROMASTOP®-CA, when used in conjunction with other Promat components, enabled fire-rated sealing of individual cables, cable bundles, electrical conduits and both combustible and non-combustible pipes, with or without combustible insulation.

◉ Pre-Coated Mineral Wool: To save time and reduce disruption on-site, the contractor applied the ablative coating to the mineral wool boards off-site. The coated boards were then installed on-site as part of the firestopping system.
