Fire Resistant Walls are employed to compartmentalise spaces, separate fire risks, thus preventing fire spread from one compartment to another. Circulation and access from one compartment to another can be served with fire resistant doors. However there is often a functional requirement for the fire resistant wall to be demountable so as to create a large opening to facilitate pre-planned access & movement of large equipment. In such circumstances, a fire door with it limited dimensions is inadequate.

The DURASTEEL® Foldable Wall is designed and tested mainly to fulfil the double function of compartmentalisation and ease of accessibility. The fire resistant wall is divided into multiple modules bi-folding and sliding on guide rails. During normal operations, the wall meets its compartmentalisation function. Where the need arises the wall is foldable to create a large opening to provide access for the intended purposes. This bespoke design is a welcome solution in many industrial and infrastructure projects where large openings for access are needed from time to time.
