Rainscreen Façade Cavity Barriers

Rainscreen Façade Cavity Barriers
Rainscreen Façade Cavity Barriers

Rainscreen façades offer modern design flexibility and weather resistance, but their ventilated cavities introduce specific fire risks. Unprotected cavities can act as chimneys, allowing fire to travel unseen behind panels. A compliant, open state cavity barrier system is vital to limit fire spread while allowing drainage and ventilation to perform as intended day-to-day.

Our solution for rainscreen facades comprises 2 dry-fit cavity barrier products:

Silverliner® Open State Cavity Barrier (OSCB) – installed at the horizontal compartment lines leaving an air gap of 25 or 50mm, depending on the requirement. Silverliner® OSCB contains an intumescent strip along the front face, which swells when exposed to heat – quickly closing the air gap and preventing the spread of flames through the cavity.

Paraflam® SEB – a closed state barrier that’s installed at the vertical compartment lines. With no requirement for an air gap in the vertical barriers, Paraflam SEB is friction fitted using brackets, providing an effective smoke & flame seal.

  • Third party certified
  • Dry-fit design – quick and clean installation
  • Various systems available up to EI120
  • Allows for air and moisture movement within the façade

Masonry Façade Cavity Barrier

Masonry Façade Cavity Barrier
Masonry Façade Cavity Barrier

Masonry façades remain a popular choice for their durability, acoustic performance, and traditional appearance. However, even in solid, non-combustible constructions, hidden voids and interfaces, for example around floors or windows, can compromise fire integrity if left unprotected. Our Paraflam® SEB solution for masonry façades is designed to maintain the structure’s inherent fire resistance.

Paraflam® SEB is a closed state cavity barrier designed for use in masonry façades. Friction fitted using brackets, Paraflam® SEB is manufactured from non-combustible stone wool with a foil facing, it prevents fibre migration and provides an effective fire and smoke seal.

  • Tested in accordance with EN 1366-4
  • Dry-fit design – quick and clean installation
  • Tested in voids up to 550mm
  • Provides a smoke seal for added protection
