BAL-FZ Bushfire Roof

In the aftermath of the ‘Black Saturday’ bushfires in Victoria considerable effort has gone into improving the fire resistance of houses in Bushfire Prone areas. Promat have a number of tested systems designed for houses that are in the most fire prone areas that are defined as BAL-FZ.

Our fire protection systems for roofs and walls specialise in protecting people, structure and equipment, from the direct impact of a bushfire front. Although a bushfire front may pass by in only a few minutes, temperatures achieved can be up to 1200oC, which can cause a large amount of residual heat to remain in timber framing of the roof and other structures. It is possible for a fire front to pass only for houses to be destroyed from the inside out due to the framing in the building reaching its critical temperature.

The system is based on our Siniat WEATHER DEFENCE™ board which means that it can be left exposed to the Weather for up to six months during the construction process
